Non-Emergency 609-259-3900School Resource Officers (SRO), by federal definition, are career law enforcement officers with sworn authority deployed by an employing police department or agency in a
community-oriented policing assignment to work in collaboration with one or more schools.
SROs are commissioned and sworn law enforcement officers – not a “security
guard.”
The goals of a well-founded School Resource Officer program include providing safe learning environments in our nation’s schools, providing valuable resources to school staff and administration, fostering positive relationships with students, developing strategies to resolve problems affecting today’s youth and protecting all students so that they can reach their full potential.
