Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Drone Unit

The Robbinsville Township Police Department operates a Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) Drone Unit, that consists of police officers that are specially trained in the operation and procedures for public safety drone flight. The drone unit’s operators obtained Remote Pilot Certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), under Part 107, allowing the operators to deploy the drones during the day and at night.

The Drone Unit operates a DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise. The Drone Unit uses this sophisticated tool for a variety of different safety functions, such as search and rescue, missing children/adults, traffic collisions, crime scene documentation, evidence search at inaccessible locations, fire incidents, HAZMAT incidents, and more.
