Lieutenant Adrian Markowski began his law enforcement career with the Robbinsville Township Police Department in February 2009 and graduated from the Mercer County Police Academy. Lieutenant Markowski served as a patrol officer for four years, prior to being assigned as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Unit. In addition to his responsibilities within the Criminal Investigation Unit, Lieutenant Markowski was designated as an Internal Affairs Officer and an Evidence Custodian.
In January 2016, Lieutenant Markowski was assigned to the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. During his time with the Homicide Task Force, he was responsible for investigating several high-profile homicide investigations.
In late 2016, Lieutenant Markowski was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as a Patrol Sergeant before he was promptly assigned as the Detective Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Unit.
In February 2022, Lieutenant Markowski was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division. Lieutenant Markowski managed supervisory personnel, police officers and communication officers to ensure operations were conducted in accordance with law, regulations, directives, guidelines, policy, agency protocol and standard operating procedures.
In January 2023, Lieutenant Markowski was assigned as the Detective Lieutenant, supervising the functions of the Criminal Investigations Unit. Lieutenant Markowski’s duties include supervising the Internal Affairs Unit, the School Resource Officers, the K9 Unit and overseeing the department’s evidence function.
In addition to his responsibilities within the Criminal Investigations Unit, Lieutenant Markowski is assigned to the Mercer County Cyber Crimes Task Force and is an instructor at the Mercer County Police Academy.
Lieutenant Markowski was a recipient of various awards including the F.B.I.-LEEDA Trilogy Award, Officer of the Year, 200 Club of Mercer County, R. Peter Hodge Valor Award, Life Saving Award, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Awards, amongst others.
Lieutenant Markowski was born in Poland and immigrated to the United States at the age of eight. He is fluent in Polish and translates whenever he is needed.
