Accreditation

Following an exhaustive and highly detailed 18-month process, the Robbinsville Township Police Department, on October 10, 2024, earned full accreditation from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP).

Accreditation acknowledges the implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective. By earning full accreditation, it means we meet or exceed “Best Practices” and gives us a definitive guide to do our jobs even better.

Accreditation results in greater accountability within the agency, reduced risk and liability exposure, a stronger defense against civil lawsuits, increased community advocacy, and more confidence in the agency’s ability to operate efficiently and respond to community needs.

Accreditation is a progressive and time proven method of assisting law enforcement agencies to calculate and improve their overall performance. The foundation of accreditation lies in the adoption of standards containing a clear statement of professional objectives.

Participating agencies conduct a thorough self-analysis to determine how existing operations can be adapted to meet these standards and objectives. When the procedures are in place, a team of trained, independent assessors verifies that the applicable standards have been successfully implemented. Our agency submitted 65 policies and 112 standards, among a host of other critical law enforcement criteria as part of its “Best Practices” to the NJSACOP.

Accreditation is valid for a three-year period during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to their continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.

Lt. Thomas Egan and Det. Robert Quinn are assigned as our agency accreditation managers.
